Il cosiddetto “autunno caldo” dei movimenti operai e sindacali iniziò nel 1969, ma sfociò con tutta la sua portata politica e di lotta solo nei primi anni settanta. Più che i partiti, erano i sindacati a fare da traino alla vicenda politica locale. Anche a Merano vi fu un forte movimento sindacale che raggiunse il suo apice di rappresentatività ed efficacia culminato con lo sciopero contro i licenziamenti alla Montecatini Edison (oggi Memc) e la famosa “tenda” sulla rampa dell’azienda di soggiorno.
Der sogenannte “heiße Herbst” der Arbeiterbewegung und der Gewerkschaften fing zwar 1969 an, seine Wirkung tritt aber besonders Anfang der 70er Jahre ein. Mehr noch als die Parteien bestimmten die Gewerkschaften die Lokalpolitik. In Meran kamen die Aktionen der Gewerkschaften zu ihrem Höhepunkt im Streik gegen die Entlassungen der Montecatini Edison (heute Memc) und im berühmten „Zelt“ vor der Kurverwaltung.
The so-called “hot autumn” of the labour movement and the unions started more or less 1969, but its effect came into being during the early 70’s. More even than the political parties it were the unions who functioned as main player in the game of city politics. At Meran/o, union activities had their peak in the strike against the Montecatini Edison (today Memc) who was laying off their workers, and in the famous “tent” in front of the Kurverwaltung.
